The HARVEY TOOL 48920 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for high-precision miniature milling applications. With a 0.5 mm (0.0200 inch) mill diameter and a 1/32 inch (0.0300 inch) length of cut, this tool is built for work in tight geometries and small-feature part programs. The 30-degree helix angle and three right-hand spiral flutes promote efficient chip evacuation and stable cutting across a range of workpiece materials. Extended reach geometry with a 0.3000 inch reach length allows access to features that standard stub tools cannot reach. It is single-end, centercutting, and runs in right-hand cutting direction. Machinists and CNC tooling technicians are the primary installers and operators of this tool.
This end mill is suited for precision milling of steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum and non-ferrous alloys, and CFRP composite materials. Its stub flute and long reach profile fit the HARVEY TOOL Miniature End Mills - Square - Long Reach, Stub Flute series, targeting applications where a small diameter tool must reach into deep pockets, slots, or contoured features without excessive tool deflection. Typical use environments include CNC machining centers running fine finishing passes or detailed slot work on small components.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and direct-use tool within the HARVEY TOOL Miniature End Mills - Square - Long Reach, Stub Flute series. Suitable for steel (P), stainless steel (M), cast iron (K), aluminum and non-ferrous (N), and CFRP (C) workpiece material classifications per ISO material codes as stated in product specifications.
This tool is installed and operated by qualified CNC machinists or tooling technicians following established machine shop practices. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe, locked-out state before changing tooling. Use an appropriate collet or toolholder sized for the 1/8 inch (0.1250 inch) shank diameter. At 0.5 mm diameter, this tool is extremely fragile - verify runout, feed rates, and depth-of-cut parameters carefully before initiating a cut to avoid breakage.
