The HARVEY TOOL 47850 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling in tight geometries and small-feature applications. With a 3/64 inch (0.0469 inch nominal) cutting diameter and a 0.075 inch length of cut, this tool is built for micro-scale slot milling, profiling, and pocketing in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The 1/8 inch shank diameter provides a secure grip in standard collets, while the 2.5 inch overall length with extended reach geometry allows access to recessed features. The 30-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. This end mill is installed and used by machinists and tooling professionals in CNC machining centers and manual mills requiring fine, precise cuts.
This end mill is suited for small-part machining in industries such as medical device manufacturing, mold and die work, aerospace components, and electronics fabrication. The centercutting configuration allows plunge entry into the workpiece, adding versatility for pocketing operations. The bright uncoated finish makes it appropriate for use in aluminum, brass, copper, plastics, and similar non-ferrous or softer ferrous materials where coating adhesion or heat buildup is less of a concern.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use solid carbide square end mill for CNC machining centers and manual mills accepting a 1/8 inch shank collet.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist familiar with CNC tooling setups. Secure the shank in a properly sized collet or end mill holder, ensuring adequate insertion depth per tool holder manufacturer guidelines. Verify spindle runout before operation, as small-diameter carbide end mills are sensitive to deflection and can fracture under off-center loading. Always confirm appropriate feeds, speeds, and depth of cut for the workpiece material before engaging the cut.
