The HARVEY TOOL 47231 is a miniature corner radius end mill designed for precision milling in tight-tolerance applications. It features a 0.031-inch cutting diameter and a 0.003-inch corner radius, making it well suited for producing fine edge breaks and small-radius profiles on hard and difficult-to-machine materials. The solid carbide construction delivers rigidity and wear resistance at small diameters. With four helical flutes cut in a right-hand direction and a 30-degree helix angle, this tool is capable of both roughing and finishing operations in a single setup. The bright uncoated finish is appropriate for use across a broad range of workpiece materials.
This end mill is used in CNC machining centers and manual mills wherever a miniature corner radius profile is required. It is particularly relevant in die and mold work, precision component machining, and prototype fabrication. Compatible primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, aluminum, wood, and composite materials. The stub-to-standard length series makes it a practical selection for general-purpose miniature milling where tool deflection must be minimized. It is installed in a straight-cylindrical toolholder with a 1/8-inch shank.
Designed for use in standard straight-cylindrical toolholders with a 1/8-inch bore. Suitable for steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, aluminum, wood, and composite workpiece materials as indicated by the manufacturer.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC setup technician using a collet or end mill holder rated for the 0.125-inch shank diameter. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe lockout state before changing tooling. At this diameter, runout in the toolholder has an outsized effect on tool life and surface finish, so verify holder concentricity before engaging the cut. Do not exceed the manufacturer-recommended depths of cut for the 0.031-inch diameter to avoid tool breakage.
