The HARVEY TOOL 46831-C6 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill engineered for high-temperature alloy machining, including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and hard alloys. It carries a 0.0310-inch mill diameter, a 0.0050-inch corner radius, and a 3-flute variable helix geometry that helps reduce chatter and improve chip evacuation in demanding applications. The AlTiN (aluminum titanium nitride) PVD coating increases surface hardness and thermal resistance, extending tool life at elevated cutting temperatures. This single-end, centercutting design supports both roughing and finishing operations in one tool, making it a practical choice for shops running tight-tolerance work in difficult materials.
This end mill is suited for precision milling operations in aerospace, medical, die-mold, and general machining environments where high-temp alloys and hard materials are common. The variable helix geometry targets chatter suppression across a range of depths and feed rates. With a 3/32-inch length of cut and a 1/8-inch straight cylindrical shank, it fits standard collet chucks and high-precision toolholders. HARVEY TOOL recommends pairing this tool with high-precision toolholders to maintain runout control at small diameters.
Designed for use with high-precision toolholders. Optimized for cutting steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and hard alloys. Part of the HARVEY TOOL Variable Helix End Mills for High Temp Alloys - Corner Radius series and the Material Specific End Mills series.
Installation is performed by a machinist or tooling technician. Secure the 1/8-inch shank in a high-precision collet or shrink-fit toolholder to minimize runout at this diameter. Verify spindle direction is set to right-hand before engaging the cut. Do not exceed the rated length of cut; excessive axial engagement on a small-diameter carbide tool risks breakage.
