The HARVEY TOOL 45712-C3 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill engineered for demanding material removal in steel, stainless steel, and cast iron. At 3/16 inches in diameter with a 1/64 inch (0.0150 inch) corner radius, this single-end tool runs a variable helix geometry that reduces chatter and improves surface finish during both roughing and finishing operations. Four flutes and an AlTiN PVD coating deliver thermal resistance and edge retention under high cutting loads. Right-hand cut, right-hand flute spiral with centercutting capability make it suitable for slot milling, profiling, and ramping passes. Licensed machinists, CNC programmers, and tool-and-die professionals are the primary users.
This end mill fits production and job-shop CNC machining centers where medium alloy steels and harder materials are common workpiece materials. The variable helix design targets vibration-prone setups, extended-reach applications, or situations where surface finish requirements are tight. The straight cylindrical shank accepts standard toolholders including ER collets and hydraulic chucks. With a 9/16 inch length of cut and 2 inch overall length, it is suited for shallow-to-medium-depth features in molds, dies, structural components, and precision machined parts.
Designed for use with standard straight-bore toolholders including ER collets, hydraulic chucks, and shrink-fit holders with a 3/16 inch bore. Rated for primary workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, and cast iron (ISO material codes P, M, K). Part of the Harvey Tool Variable Helix End Mills for Medium Alloy Steels - Corner Radius series.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC setup technician. Power down and lock out the spindle before inserting or removing the tool from the toolholder. Seat the shank fully to the recommended gauge-line depth for the holder type being used; do not clamp on the fluted section. Verify runout with a dial indicator after clamping before initiating a cutting cycle. Coolant-through is not supported on this tool; external flood or mist coolant should be directed at the cutting zone when required by the workpiece material.
