The HARVEY TOOL 44916 is a single-flute, solid carbide square end mill engineered for downcut milling operations. With a 0.25-inch cutter diameter, a 0.75-inch length of cut, and a 2.5-inch overall length, this tool is sized for detail work, slotting, and profiling in tight-tolerance applications. The downcut flute geometry pulls chips upward and presses the workpiece surface downward, reducing surface fraying and delamination. The bright, uncoated finish makes it suitable for materials where coating buildup or heat transfer is a concern. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute orientation follow standard CNC spindle conventions. The 22-degree helix angle and centercutting capability allow plunge entry without pre-drilling.
This end mill is suited for CNC machining centers and manual mills running applications that demand a clean top surface finish. The downcut action makes it particularly well-matched for laminates, plywood, composites, plastics, and soft non-ferrous materials where fiber tearout or surface lifting is a primary concern. A licensed machinist or CNC programmer typically selects this geometry when workholding or material type requires downward cutting force to stabilize the part during the operation.
Designed as an OEM-style solid carbide square end mill for use in standard 1/4-inch collet or end mill holders on CNC machining centers and conventional milling machines.
Install in a clean, properly sized collet or end mill holder and torque to the tool holder manufacturer's specification before running. Inspect the shank and collet bore for chips or debris before seating the tool. Confirm spindle rotation direction matches the right-hand cut orientation before engaging the workpiece. Always shut down the spindle and confirm it has fully stopped before making tool changes or adjustments.
