The HARVEY TOOL 43795 is a solid carbide Woodruff keyseat cutter designed for milling keyseat slots in rotating shaft applications. With a 0.1875-inch cutter diameter and a 0.125-inch cutting width, this tool produces the precise, narrow slots required for Woodruff key fitment. The 3/16-inch shank diameter and 2-inch overall length make it compatible with standard milling setups. Six straight teeth deliver clean, consistent cuts in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. The bright, uncoated carbide construction provides the rigidity needed for accurate keyseat geometry in both production and toolroom environments.
This cutter is suited for use on vertical milling machines and CNC machining centers where keyseat operations are performed on shafts, spindles, and similar cylindrical components. The straight-tooth configuration is appropriate for conventional keyseat milling where axial chip clearance is not a primary constraint. Machinists and toolmakers working in job shops, production facilities, or maintenance environments will find this tool applicable to a wide range of ferrous and non-ferrous workpiece materials. The 0.093-inch neck diameter and 0.562-inch neck length allow the cutter to reach into slot depths typical of standard Woodruff key specifications.
Designed for use on vertical milling machines and CNC machining centers equipped with 3/16-inch collet or end mill holders. Compatible with primary workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, and cast iron, as well as secondary materials including non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following standard milling setup practices. Secure the shank in a properly sized collet or end mill holder, ensuring adequate clamping force before beginning the cut. Verify spindle speed and feed rate against the material being machined prior to operation; the absence of a Weldon flat means the tool relies entirely on collet clamping to prevent pullout. Always power down and lock out the machine before changing or inspecting the cutter.
