The HARVEY TOOL 39005-C6 is a single-end, solid carbide ball end mill engineered for milling medium alloy steels and hard materials. It features a 3.00 mm (0.1180 inch) cutting diameter, a 2-flute configuration, and a 35-degree helix angle that promotes efficient chip evacuation and stable cutting at elevated feeds. The tapered reach neck design extends rigidity in deep-cavity and mold-making applications. An AlTiN Nano PVD coating improves heat resistance and tool life when cutting hardened steels and stainless steel. This end mill is specified by machinists and toolroom professionals for precision contouring, profiling, and finishing in die and mold work.
This end mill is suited for machining medium alloy steels (ISO P), hard materials (ISO H), stainless steel (ISO M), and cast iron (ISO K). The tapered reach geometry makes it particularly well-suited for deep-cavity mold work where neck clearance is critical. It belongs to the Harvey Tool High Helix End Mills for Medium Alloy Steels series, which targets material-specific applications requiring both roughing and finishing capability in a single tool pass.
Designed for use in machining centers and CNC milling machines with 1/4-inch tool holders or collets. Primary workpiece materials are medium alloy steels and hard materials; secondary materials include stainless steel and cast iron, per Harvey Tool series specifications for the High Helix End Mills for Medium Alloy Steels - Ball - Tapered Reach line.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in an appropriate safe state before changing tooling. Use a precision collet or tool holder sized for a 0.2500-inch shank diameter with an h6 tolerance fit to maintain runout specifications. Follow the machine tool manufacturer and cutting tool manufacturer feed-and-speed guidelines for the specific workpiece material and depth of cut; do not extrapolate parameters from end mills of different geometries or coatings.
