The HARVEY TOOL 34640 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling in metalworking and machining applications. With a 0.04 inch cutting diameter and a 0.06 inch length of cut, this tool is built for fine detail work in tight geometries. The 3-flute, right-hand spiral design with a 30-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation while maintaining a clean edge finish. At 2.5 inches overall length with a 1/8 inch shank diameter, this single-end mill fits standard collet toolholders. The bright uncoated finish makes it suited for materials where coating adhesion or heat buildup is a concern. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install this tool in production and prototype environments.
This end mill is intended for CNC milling centers and manual knee mills where small-diameter precision cutting is required. The extended reach configuration, with a 0.325 inch reach length, allows access to features in deeper pockets or recessed areas that standard-length end mills cannot reach. The centercutting capability supports plunge entry in addition to peripheral and slot milling operations. Typical applications include finishing passes on small features, slot milling, and profiling in aerospace, medical device, and precision instrument manufacturing.
Designed as an OEM-style solid carbide square end mill compatible with standard 1/8 inch collet toolholders used in CNC machining centers and manual milling machines.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator familiar with small-diameter tooling. Secure the 1/8 inch shank in a properly sized, clean collet or end mill holder and verify runout before cutting. Small-diameter carbide end mills are brittle and highly sensitive to side loading, tool overhang, and improper feed rates. Always confirm spindle speed and feed parameters match the workpiece material before engaging the cut.
