The HARVEY TOOL 33440-C3 is a miniature solid carbide ball end mill designed for precision milling in demanding ferrous materials. With a 0.0400 inch cutting diameter and a 0.0200 inch nose radius, this tool delivers accurate ball-end geometry at the micro scale. The stub flute design measures 0.0600 inches in length of cut, while the long-reach neck extends 0.2030 inches to access deep or confined features without tool interference. Three right-hand spiral flutes with a 30-degree helix angle promote efficient chip evacuation during both roughing and finishing operations. An AlTiN PVD coating adds thermal resistance and hardness, extending tool life when cutting steel, stainless steel, and cast iron.
This end mill is built for shops running tight-tolerance work in steel, stainless steel, and cast iron — materials classified under ISO material groups P, M, and K. The long-reach, stub-flute configuration makes it well suited for mold cavities, medical components, aerospace features, and other applications where a standard-reach tool cannot clear surrounding workpiece walls. The 0.1250 inch straight-cylindrical shank fits standard collet systems. Single-end geometry and right-hand cutting direction are consistent with conventional CNC milling setups. At 2.5 inches overall length, the tool maintains rigidity over its extended neck while keeping runout to a minimum.
Designed for use in CNC machining centers and high-speed spindles equipped with standard 0.1250 inch collets or collet chucks. Suitable for cutting steel, stainless steel, and cast iron. Part of the HARVEY TOOL Miniature End Mills Ball Long Reach Stub Flute series.
Installation should be performed by a qualified CNC machinist or toolroom technician. Seat the straight-cylindrical shank fully and evenly in a precision collet to minimize runout before tightening. Verify spindle runout is within acceptable limits for the tool diameter before starting the cut, as excessive runout at miniature diameters accelerates tool wear and breakage. Follow the machine tool manufacturer guidelines for feed rate and spindle speed when first engaging the workpiece.
