The HARVEY TOOL 32912 is a solid carbide Woodruff keyseat cutter designed for milling keyseats and slots in shaft work. It features a 1.375-inch cutting diameter, a 0.375-inch cutting width, and a straight-tooth configuration with 6 teeth. The cutter connects via a 3/4-inch shank and runs an overall length of 3.625 inches. Constructed from brazed solid carbide with a bright/uncoated finish, it delivers rigidity and edge retention on demanding workpiece materials. Licensed machinists and tool-and-die professionals install this cutter in vertical milling machines and machining centers for keyseat operations.
This cutter is suited for keyseat and slot milling in steel, stainless steel, and cast iron as primary workpiece materials. It also performs on non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. The straight-tooth profile is well-matched to conventional keyseat milling passes in both manual and CNC mill setups. The 0.1875-inch corner radius provides a controlled transition at the base of the cut. This is a single-piece brazed carbide tool — no inserts to index or replace.
Rated for primary workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, and cast iron (ISO material codes P, M, K), and secondary materials including non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials (ISO codes N, S, H). Fits standard 3/4-inch milling machine arbors and collet holders. No Weldon flat on the shank.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist. Secure the 3/4-inch shank firmly in an appropriate collet, end-mill holder, or arbor before operation — confirm runout before cutting. Power down and lock out the spindle before tool changes. Follow the tool manufacturer's recommended feed and speed tables for the specific workpiece material and machine configuration; do not exceed the cutter's rated cutting width in a single pass without verifying deflection limits.
