The HARVEY TOOL 27278-C3 is a miniature solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for precision milling in tight-tolerance applications. With a 0.078-inch mill diameter and a 0.01-inch corner radius, this tool produces clean, radiused inside corners while maintaining dimensional accuracy to within plus or minus 0.0005 inches on diameter. The AlTiN (aluminum titanium nitride) PVD coating adds surface hardness and heat resistance, extending tool life during dry or semi-dry cutting. Four right-hand helical flutes at a 30-degree helix angle support efficient chip evacuation in both roughing and finishing passes. Licensed machinists and CNC toolroom operators are the primary users of this tool.
This end mill fits applications in aerospace, medical device, mold and die, and general precision machining where small-diameter, corner-radiused features are required. It is suited for cutting steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and composite materials. The stub-and-standard series length and 0.5-inch length of cut make it appropriate for shallow-to-moderate-depth pockets and profiling operations where rigidity is a priority. The straight cylindrical 0.125-inch shank seats in a standard toolholder collet without special adapters.
Designed for use with standard collet-style toolholders accepting a 0.125-inch shank diameter. Suitable for machining steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and composite workpiece materials as specified by the manufacturer.
Installation and operation should be performed by qualified machinists or CNC operators familiar with small-diameter carbide tooling. Seat the shank fully into the collet or toolholder and torque the retention nut to the toolholder manufacturer's specification before running. Verify spindle runout is within acceptable limits before engaging the cut, as excessive runout accelerates wear and can fracture small-diameter carbide tools. Do not exceed the manufacturer's recommended speeds and feeds for the workpiece material and depth of cut.
