The HARVEY TOOL 24630-C3 is a miniature solid carbide ball end mill engineered for high-precision milling in steel, stainless steel, and cast iron. With a 0.0300-inch cutting diameter and a 0.0450-inch length of cut, this stub-length tool is built for tight-tolerance work where rigidity and minimal deflection are critical. The AlTiN (aluminum titanium nitride) PVD coating improves heat resistance and tool life in ferrous materials. Four flutes and a 30-degree right-hand helix deliver efficient chip evacuation and a smooth surface finish. Installed by machinists and tooling professionals on CNC machining centers and precision mills, this end mill handles both roughing and finishing operations in a single tool.
This tool is suited for miniature and micro-milling applications in industries that require tight tolerances on small features, including aerospace, medical device, and precision die and mold work. The stub length design keeps overhang short, maximizing stiffness when profiling, slotting, or contouring in difficult-to-machine ferrous alloys. The straight cylindrical 0.1250-inch shank fits standard collets and tool holders used in benchtop CNC mills and full-size machining centers alike. Material removal type is rated for both roughing and finishing passes.
Designed for use in standard CNC machining centers and precision mills with a collet or tool holder accepting a 0.1250-inch straight cylindrical shank. Primary workpiece materials are steel, stainless steel, and cast iron per the manufacturer specification.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the spindle fully stopped and the machine in a safe, locked-out state. Verify collet runout before use, as excessive runout at this diameter will significantly reduce tool life and surface finish quality. Do not exceed manufacturer-recommended feeds and speeds for the workpiece material and coating type. Secure the shank to the full recommended collet engagement depth to prevent pullout during cutting.
