The HARVEY TOOL 24547-C3 is a miniature solid carbide ball end mill designed for high-precision material removal in ferrous machining applications. With a 0.047-inch (1.20 mm) mill diameter and a 0.07-inch reach length, this stub-length tool is built for tight-tolerance work where rigidity and minimal deflection are critical. The 2-flute, right-hand helical geometry at a 30-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation. An AlTiN (aluminum titanium nitride) PVD coating adds surface hardness and heat resistance, extending tool life in demanding cuts. Licensed machinists and CNC programmers working in production or prototype environments are the primary users of this tool.
This end mill is suited for milling steel, stainless steel, and cast iron in both roughing and finishing operations. The stub length classification provides added stiffness, making it appropriate for applications where overhang must be minimized and surface finish is a priority. The straight cylindrical 1/8-inch shank fits standard collet chucks and tool holders common to CNC machining centers and high-speed spindles. It is a single-end tool and does not feature coolant-through, extended reach, chipbreaker, variable helix, or variable index geometry.
Designed for use in CNC machining centers and high-speed spindles equipped with standard 1/8-inch collet chucks or tool holders. Primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, and cast iron (ISO material codes P, M, and K).
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is powered down before changing tooling. Seat the 1/8-inch shank fully in a clean, undamaged collet or tool holder and tighten to the tool holder manufacturer's specified clamping procedure. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning a cut, as excessive runout will significantly reduce tool life and surface finish quality on a tool of this diameter.
