The HARVEY TOOL 23914-C3 is a solid carbide dovetail cutter designed for machining precision dovetail slots and undercuts in a wide range of materials. Built with a 48-degree included angle, a 0.083-inch cutter diameter, and a 0.085-inch cutting width, this tool delivers accurate, repeatable results in tight-tolerance applications. The Titanium Aluminum Nitride (TiAlN) coating increases surface hardness and heat resistance, extending tool life in ferrous and non-ferrous metals, plastics, and composites. With a 0.015-inch corner radius, it produces controlled, consistent slot profiles. This cutter is installed and operated by machinists and tool-and-die professionals working on CNC mills and manual milling machines.
This dovetail cutter suits applications requiring small-diameter, high-precision undercutting where standard end mills cannot reach. Its 1/8-inch shank diameter makes it compatible with collet systems commonly used on CNC machining centers and manual mills handling fine, detail-oriented work. Typical applications include dovetail slide features, T-slot undercuts, fixture work, and precision part geometry in production or prototype environments. The two-flute geometry provides chip clearance in confined cuts and is well suited to materials that demand sharp, rigid tooling at reduced cutting diameters.
Designed for use in CNC machining centers and manual milling machines equipped with collet systems accepting a 1/8-inch shank diameter.
This cutter is installed by qualified machinists following standard toolholding procedures for small-diameter carbide end mills. Ensure the collet and toolholder are clean and properly torqued before operation, and confirm runout is within acceptable limits to avoid premature tool breakage at this diameter. Carbide tooling is brittle - avoid side-loading beyond the rated cutting width, and do not use this cutter for plunge operations unless the application specifically supports it. Follow machine manufacturer guidelines for spindle speed and feed rate selection appropriate to the workpiece material.
