The HARVEY TOOL 22331 is a solid carbide Woodruff keyseat cutter designed for milling semicircular keyseats into shafts and mating components. With a 0.25-inch cutting diameter and a 0.031-inch cutting width, this tool produces precise, narrow keyseat slots in a single pass. The 1/4-inch shank diameter and 2.5-inch overall length make it compatible with standard collet systems used on vertical mills and CNC machining centers. The bright, uncoated carbide construction provides rigidity and dimensional stability during interrupted cuts. Machinists and toolroom professionals install this cutter for shaft-keyway work on drive components, fixtures, and mechanical assemblies.
This keyseat cutter is suited for shops performing shaft preparation and power-transmission component work in both job-shop and production environments. The straight tooth configuration produces clean, accurate slot walls and is appropriate for use in aluminum, steel, brass, and similar machinable materials. With six teeth and a compact 0.031-inch cut width, the 22331 is particularly useful where tight dimensional tolerances on keyseat width are required. It is sold individually and is a direct-use tool requiring no additional assembly.
Designed for use in vertical milling machines and CNC machining centers equipped with standard 1/4-inch collet or end mill holder systems. Suitable for cutting Woodruff keyseats in shafts and components where the application matches the 0.25-inch cutter diameter and 0.031-inch cut width specifications.
Install and remove this cutter only with the machine spindle fully stopped and the machine powered down or locked out per applicable safety procedures. Secure the shank firmly in a collet or holder to the full recommended engagement depth before cutting. Use appropriate cutting speeds and feeds for the work material and cutter diameter — refer to the manufacturer cutting data tables for carbide tooling. Inspect the cutting edges for chipping before each use, as solid carbide tooling is brittle and sensitive to side loads and improper fixturing.
