The HARVEY TOOL 18523-C3 is a solid carbide chamfer mill designed for precise chamfering, deburring, and angled edge preparation on metallic and composite workpieces. Measuring 1/4 inch in cutter head diameter with a 2.5-inch overall length and a 1/4-inch shank, this tool fits standard collet chucks used in CNC machining centers and manual mills. The three-flute configuration provides a balance of chip evacuation and surface finish quality. An AlTiN coating improves heat resistance and tool life during high-speed cutting in ferrous materials. The included angle of 22.5 degrees produces a 135-degree chamfer, making it well suited for cross-hole deburring and pre-thread chamfering operations. Machinist technicians and CNC operators are the primary users of this tool.
This chamfer mill is appropriate for use in production machining environments handling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and similar hard materials where heat generation at the cutting edge is a concern. The right-hand cutting direction is compatible with standard spindle rotation on CNC machining centers and manual knee mills. The single-end design and compact 1/4-inch diameter make it effective in tight-clearance applications and small-bore chamfering tasks. It is sold individually and is intended for direct replacement or tooling inventory replenishment in a shop setting.
Designed as a standard solid carbide chamfer mill with a 1/4-inch straight shank, compatible with ER-style collet chucks and other 1/4-inch toolholding systems on CNC machining centers and manual milling machines.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is powered down or placed in an E-stop state before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into the collet or toolholder and torque the retention nut to the toolholder manufacturer specification. Verify tool runout with a dial indicator before beginning production cuts.
