The HARVEY TOOL 17940-C3 is a combined drill and countersink designed for simultaneous center drilling and countersinking in a single operation. Built from solid carbide with an AlTiN coating, this tool delivers high heat resistance and extended tool life in hard and abrasive materials. It features a No. 2 trade size body diameter of 3/16 inches, a 5/64-inch drill point, a 118-degree drill point angle, and a 90-degree included angle. The double-end design adds versatility on the bench. Machinists, toolmakers, and CNC operators use this tool in production and job-shop environments where accuracy at the center-drill stage directly affects downstream boring and turning operations.
This combo drill countersink is suited for use in CNC machining centers, manual lathes, and drill presses where center drilling and countersinking are required before turning or boring operations. The right-hand cutting direction and plain cutting edge style make it compatible with standard spindle configurations. At 2 inches overall length, it fits most standard tool holders without extended-reach adapters. It is appropriate for work in ferrous metals, stainless steels, and high-temperature alloys where the AlTiN finish provides a meaningful advantage over uncoated or TiN-coated alternatives.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and production-grade combined drill and countersink for use in standard tool holders accepting a 3/16-inch body diameter, compatible with CNC and manual machine setups requiring No. 2 trade size center drills.
Installation and tool changes should be performed with the machine in a full stop and lockout-tagout procedures followed. Solid carbide tooling is brittle and should be handled carefully to avoid chipping prior to use. Secure the tool in a collet or drill chuck rated for the body diameter before operation. Consult the machine manufacturer and applicable shop safety standards for recommended speeds and feeds for carbide tooling in the workpiece material.
