The HARVEY TOOL 11420-C3 is a solid carbide spotting drill designed to create accurate center-point locations before full drilling operations. Built to a 90-degree point angle, it establishes precise seating geometry that reduces drill walk and improves hole-position accuracy on hard and soft metals alike. The AlTiN coating provides heat resistance and extended tool life under high-speed cutting conditions. With a 0.020-inch cutting diameter and a 1.5-inch overall length, this drill is suited for tight-tolerance work in machining centers and manual mills. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install and deploy this tool in production and job-shop environments.
This spotting drill is intended for general-purpose spotting and center-marking applications across a range of workpiece materials. Its compact cutting diameter of 0.020 inches makes it well suited for small-format work where precise drill entry is critical. The 2-flute spiral design and straight cylindrical shank measuring 0.125 inches in diameter allow it to seat cleanly in standard collet and chuck toolholding systems. Right-hand cutting direction is compatible with conventional spindle rotation on standard vertical and horizontal machining setups.
Designed as a general-purpose spotting drill for use in standard collet systems and drill chucks that accept a 0.125-inch straight cylindrical shank. Suitable for vertical machining centers, CNC mills, and manual mills running conventional right-hand spindle rotation.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC operator using a compatible collet or drill chuck toolholder rated for the shank diameter. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before loading or changing tooling. Verify runout after seating the shank and confirm the tool is secured to the toolholder manufacturers specified torque before initiating a cycle. Inspect the cutting edges and AlTiN coating for chips or wear before each use, as carbide tools are brittle and can fracture if used in a damaged state.
