The HART COOLEY 12r12 is a double-wall Type B vent round pipe designed for Category 1 gas appliance venting applications. Measuring 12 inches in diameter and 1 foot in length, it features an aluminum inner wall and a galvanized steel outer wall. This construction provides the thermal performance and corrosion resistance required for venting natural gas and propane appliances that produce non-positive vent pressure and flue gases above the dew point. Licensed HVAC technicians and gas fitters install this pipe as part of listed B-vent systems on residential and light commercial heating equipment.
This pipe section is suited for residential and light commercial Category 1 appliance venting, including gas furnaces, boilers, and water heaters that require Type B vent connectors or vent pipe runs. The 12-inch diameter accommodates high-capacity equipment where larger flue sizing is required. It is installed as a straight section within a complete Type B vent system, connecting appliance collars, elbows, offsets, and roof terminations. All components in the system must be from a listed and compatible assembly.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard straight section for Type B double-wall vent systems serving Category 1 gas appliances in residential and light commercial installations.
Type B vent pipe must be installed by a licensed HVAC technician or gas fitter in accordance with the appliance manufacturer instructions, NFPA 54 (National Fuel Gas Code), and applicable local codes. Shut off gas supply and allow the appliance to cool completely before servicing or modifying any vent connector or vent pipe. All sections and fittings must belong to the same listed vent system assembly and must be properly supported and secured per the listing requirements. Never mix Type B vent components from different listed systems or use Type B pipe for Category III or Category IV appliances.
