The HARRIS 95531 is a solid core solder wire designed for plumbing, HVAC, and mechanical piping applications where a lead-free alloy is required. Composed of 95% tin and 5% antimony, this solder offers a tight working range with a solidus of 452 degrees F and a liquidus of 464 degrees F, making it suitable for sweating copper fittings and tubing used in potable water, hydronic heating, and refrigeration systems. Supplied on a spool at 1 pound net weight and 1/16 inch nominal diameter, it is a standard stock item for journeymen plumbers and HVAC-R technicians who need a reliable, lead-free filler metal for torch-applied joints.
The HARRIS 95531 is well suited for residential and light commercial plumbing and HVAC work. Its 95/5 tin-antimony composition meets lead-free requirements for potable water systems under NSF and plumbing code standards. The tight solidus-to-liquidus spread of 12 degrees F gives the technician good control during the sweat-soldering process. It is commonly used when joining copper pipe and fittings in supply lines, hydronic loops, chilled water systems, and similar low-to-medium pressure copper piping installations.

Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or HVAC-R technician in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and IFGC or IPC requirements. Shut off and drain the system section being worked on before applying heat. Apply an appropriate lead-free flux to the fitting and pipe before heating; do not overheat the joint, as excess temperature beyond the liquidus can degrade the alloy flow and joint quality. Allow the joint to cool undisturbed before restoring pressure.
