The HANSGROHE 4974700 is a purpose-built pet washing handshower bundle designed for thorough, controlled rinsing of dogs and other animals at outdoor faucets or continuous-flow water heater connections. The shower head measures 5.875 inches and delivers 1.75 gallons per minute across three dedicated spray modes: fur spray, leg spray, and paw spray. A Select button on the handle allows quick alternation between modes without repositioning the water supply. Elongated, brush-like nozzles extend approximately 0.6 inches and combine water delivery with a massage effect for deep coat cleaning. The integrated Water Boost function lets the technician or user temporarily increase flow rate on demand. A double backflow prevention device is built into the unit, a critical feature for any hose connected to a potable supply line.
This bundle is designed for outdoor residential use, connecting to a standard garden hose bib or outdoor spigot via the included garden adapter. It is also compatible with continuous-flow tankless water heaters for warm-water pet washing. The 3-way diverter and QuickConnect adapter allow fast installation without tools in most cases. The full kit includes the handshower, a Techniflex hose measuring 8.2 feet in chrome finish, a QuickConnect adapter, a 3-way Inversa Diverter (part 28719003), and a garden adapter for outdoor use. The rinseable screen seal simplifies maintenance in high-debris outdoor environments.
Designed for use with standard garden hose bibs using a 0.5-inch NPT connection (DN15) and compatible with continuous-flow tankless water heaters. The included Inversa Diverter carries part number 28719003.
Installation is typically performed by a homeowner or plumber connecting to an existing outdoor hose bib or tankless water heater outlet. Shut off the water supply at the bib or heater before attaching the QuickConnect adapter. Verify that the connection thread matches a standard 0.5-inch NPT fitting before installation. Local plumbing codes may require a dedicated backflow preventer on potable supply lines; confirm compliance with applicable IPC or local ordinances even though the unit includes integrated backflow prevention.
