The HAM-LET 3001636 is a compression tube union designed to join two compression-style tube ends in a single inline fitting. Constructed from 316 stainless steel to ASTM A182, ASTM A213, ASTM A269, ASTM A276, and ASTM A479 standards, this union provides a reliable leak-resistant connection without welding or flanging. The reducing configuration accepts a 3/8-inch outside-diameter tube on one end and a 1/4-inch outside-diameter tube on the other, making it well suited for instrument tubing runs that transition between two tube sizes. Licensed plumbers, pipefitters, and instrumentation technicians install this type of fitting in process and utility piping systems.
This compression union is used in residential and commercial applications where stainless steel tubing carries gases, liquids, or instrumentation signals. Typical install scenarios include instrument air lines, refrigerant-adjacent sensing lines, hydraulic control circuits, and general process piping where corrosion resistance and clean-room compatibility are required. The 316 material grade offers elevated chloride and pitting resistance compared to 304-series stainless. Rated for service down to -20 degrees F, this union suits most indoor and moderate outdoor environments.
Designed as an OEM-style compression tube union for 3/8-inch to 1/4-inch outside-diameter stainless steel tubing in instrument and process piping applications. Cross-reference: Swagelok part number SS-600-6-4.
Installation should be performed by a qualified pipefitter or instrumentation technician familiar with compression fitting assembly procedures. Depressurize and isolate the tubing system completely before disassembling or installing any compression fitting. Ensure tube ends are cut square, deburred, and free of contaminants before inserting into the fitting body. Follow the fitting manufacturer's recommended turns-past-finger-tight procedure for ferrule engagement; do not overtighten, as this can deform the ferrule and compromise the seal.
