The HAIMER 50.840.1Z.4 is a shrink-fit tool holder adapter designed for precision CNC machining applications using a CAT50 taper shank interface. It accepts tooling with a 1-inch bore diameter and provides 3.94 inches of projection from the gauge line, making it suitable for operations that require extended reach without sacrificing rigidity. The adapter includes through-coolant capability with Cool Jet and resealable bores, enabling effective chip evacuation and cutting zone cooling at high spindle speeds. Balanced to 25,000 RPM, this holder is appropriate for high-speed machining centers running demanding finishing or semi-finishing operations. Licensed machinists and CNC setup technicians are the primary installers.
This adapter is used in vertical and horizontal machining centers equipped with CAT50 spindle interfaces. The 1-inch bore diameter accommodates standard shrink-fit tooling shanks of that size, and the 2.28-inch clamping depth ensures secure thermal grip engagement. The 1.73-inch nose diameter and 3.94-inch projection suit applications where clearance around the workpiece or fixture is a consideration. The through-coolant design with resealable bores supports both coolant-on and dry-run configurations depending on the operation.
Designed for use in CAT50-spindle machining centers with shrink-fit tooling systems requiring a 1-inch bore holder. Consult machine tool and tooling documentation to confirm taper, bore, and coolant-port compatibility before installation.
Shrink-fit tool holders require a dedicated induction heating and cooling station for tool loading and unloading - never attempt to insert or remove tooling using mechanical force. Power down and fully de-energize the machining center before performing any spindle or tooling changes. Confirm spindle and taper surfaces are clean and free of burrs before seating the adapter. Through-coolant port connection and resealable bore plugs should be inspected and properly configured before operation.
