The HAIMER 40.840.25.4 is a shrink-fit tool holder adapter designed for CNC machining centers running CAT40 taper spindles. It accepts cutting tools with a 0.9843-inch (25 mm) bore diameter and delivers a 3.937-inch projection from the spindle face. The holder features through-coolant capability with Cool Jet and resealable bores, allowing high-pressure coolant to reach the cutting zone directly. Balanced to 25,000 RPM, this holder suits high-speed finishing and semi-finish operations where runout control and vibration damping are critical. Machinists and tool-crib technicians working in aerospace, die-mold, and precision manufacturing will encounter this holder frequently.
This holder installs in CAT40 spindle machines across a wide range of vertical and horizontal machining centers used in production and job-shop environments. The 2.2835-inch clamping depth provides a secure grip on compatible shank tooling. The 1.7323-inch nose diameter and 100 mm projection make it suitable for reaching into moderate-depth pockets and features without excessive overhang. Through-coolant support makes it appropriate for high-feed milling, deep-hole drilling, and extended-reach applications where chip evacuation is a priority.
Designed as an OEM-style shrink-fit tool holder for CAT40 spindle machining centers accepting tooling with a 0.9843-inch bore diameter.
Shrink-fit holders require an induction heating unit to thermally expand the bore before tool insertion - never force tooling in or out of a cold holder. Always power down and lock out the spindle before removing or installing any tool holder. Follow the machine tool builder guidelines and applicable ANSI B11 safety standards for tool-holder installation and torque on the retention knob. Allow the holder to cool fully and verify tool runout with a dial indicator before returning the spindle to service.
