The HAIMER 40.840.10.4 is a shrink-fit tool holder adapter designed for precision CNC machining applications. Featuring a CAT40 taper shank interface, this adapter accepts tooling with a 0.3937 inch (10 mm) hole diameter and provides a projection of 3.1496 inches (80 mm). The nose diameter measures 0.9449 inches (24 mm), and the clamping depth is 1.6535 inches (42 mm). Built with through-coolant capability and Cool Jet resealable bores, it delivers directed coolant flow to the cutting zone. The adapter is balanced to 25,000 RPM, making it suitable for high-speed spindle work. Installed by CNC machinists and toolroom technicians in milling and machining center setups.
This adapter is intended for use in machining centers equipped with CAT40 spindle interfaces. It is well-suited for high-speed milling, drilling, and boring operations where accurate tool runout control and coolant delivery are critical. The shrink-fit connection method provides a rigid, highly concentric tool grip compared to mechanical clamping systems. Typical installation requires a shrink-fit heating and cooling station to expand the bore for tool insertion and then allow controlled shrinkage onto the tool shank. Applications span aerospace, automotive, die and mold, and general precision part manufacturing.
Designed for use in machining centers with a CAT40 spindle taper interface and compatible with shrink-fit tooling having a 0.3937 inch (10 mm) shank diameter.
Installation requires a dedicated shrink-fit induction heating unit to expand the bore before inserting the tool shank; do not attempt to force tooling into the bore without proper thermal expansion. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before mounting or removing the adapter. Verify balance rating compatibility with spindle specifications before running at elevated RPM. Follow the machine tool manufacturer guidelines and applicable shop safety procedures for high-speed toolholder handling.
