The H R MANUFACTURING HR-82-2-AL is a soft lathe chuck jaw designed for use with 11-inch chuck diameters on manual and CNC lathes. Machined from 6061 aluminum, this round, serrated jaw provides a secure grip on workpieces while remaining soft enough to machine custom bore profiles to exact tolerances. The serrated interface mates with standard serrated chuck bodies, locking the jaw firmly in position during turning operations. The set includes 3 jaws and is built to accept an M12 fastener for reliable mounting. At 1.597 pounds for the set, the aluminum construction keeps rotational mass low without sacrificing rigidity at the chuck face.
This jaw set is suited for metalworking shops running lathes equipped with 11-inch chucks. Typical applications include production turning, tool room work, and prototype machining where a machinable soft jaw is required to grip irregular, delicate, or finished workpieces without marring surfaces. The round jaw shape and serrated interface make this a straightforward drop-in replacement for worn or damaged OEM-style soft jaws on compatible chuck bodies. Machinists and tool room technicians are the primary installers in both job shop and manufacturing environments.
Designed for use with lathe chucks having a minimum and maximum compatible chuck diameter of 11.0 inches. Verify serrated interface pattern and mount hole spacing of 1.181 inches match the existing chuck body before installation.
Installation is performed by a machinist or qualified lathe operator. Power down and lock out the lathe before removing or installing chuck jaws. Confirm the serrated interface seating and fastener torque per the chuck manufacturer's guidelines before resuming spindle operation. After boring soft jaws to a custom profile, verify jaw runout with a dial indicator before cutting workpieces to tolerance.
