The H R Manufacturing HR-476-A is a soft lathe chuck jaw with a tongue and groove interface, machined from 6061 aluminum. Soft jaws are designed to be bored or machined in place to match the exact workpiece geometry, providing precise, repeatable workholding on a lathe. This jaw measures 4.25 inches overall length and 1.5 inches overall width, with mount hole centers spaced 2.12 inches apart. The aluminum construction keeps rotating mass low while remaining easy to re-machine as jobs change. Machinists and toolroom technicians install these as matched sets on manual and CNC lathes requiring a tongue and groove jaw seat.
This jaw is sized for use on 10-inch diameter lathe chucks with a tongue and groove mounting interface. It is suited to production and job-shop environments where repeatable part location is critical and jaw sets must be custom-bored for each workpiece family. The square jaw shape is compatible with standard three-jaw and four-jaw chuck configurations that accept this interface style. Installation typically requires machining the jaw face to the required bore diameter before first use on a given workpiece.
Designed for lathe chucks with a 10-inch maximum and minimum compatible chuck diameter using a tongue and groove jaw interface. Verify chuck jaw seat dimensions, slot width, and mount hole spacing against the specifications below before ordering.
Soft lathe chuck jaws are installed and finished by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Power down the lathe and bring the spindle to a complete stop before removing or installing jaw sets. Jaws must be bored or faced in place on the chuck at the intended clamping diameter before use on a workpiece to ensure concentricity. Follow the machine tool manufacturer torque guidelines for jaw mounting hardware and inspect jaw seating surfaces for chips or debris before each setup.
