The GWS 315292 is a solid carbide ball end mill designed for precision milling of non-ferrous metals, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium. Built on GWS Series 2045, it features a 1/2 inch cutting diameter, a 2 inch length of cut, and a 3-flute spiral configuration with a 37-degree medium helix angle. The NF1 PVD coating extends tool life in demanding cutting environments. A 0.25 inch nose radius and right-hand cutting and flute direction make this tool suitable for both roughing and finishing passes. It is installed by machinists and CNC operators working in job shops, production facilities, and maintenance machining environments.
This ball end mill is suited for milling operations on non-ferrous metals as the primary workpiece material, with cast iron, superalloys, and titanium as secondary applications. The single-end design, straight-cylindrical shank with h6 tolerance, and standard length classification make it compatible with conventional CNC machining centers and manual milling machines accepting a 1/2 inch shank. No extended reach and no coolant-through passages keep the setup straightforward for general-purpose contouring, profiling, and slot milling work.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use solid carbide ball end mill for CNC machining centers and manual mills equipped with a 1/2 inch tool holder or collet accepting a straight-cylindrical shank.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator with the machine powered down and the spindle locked before tool changes. Seat the shank fully into the collet or end mill holder and torque the retention hardware according to the tool holder manufacturer specifications. Verify runout with a dial indicator before commencing cuts. Follow applicable shop safety protocols and machine guarding requirements during setup and operation.
