The GWS 314900 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for high-performance milling in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. With a 0.5 inch mill diameter, 4 inch length of cut, and a ZrN (zirconium nitride) coating, this tool delivers extended tool life and reduced friction in demanding machining applications. The 37-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. It is a single-end, right-hand cutting tool built for use in CNC machining centers and manual mills where precision and durability are required.
The 314900 is suited for slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling operations in shop and production environments. It is a centercutting design, allowing plunge entry where needed. The ZrN coating adds wear resistance and is well matched to applications in hardened steels, stainless, and high-temp alloys. Machinists, tool and die makers, and CNC operators working in job shops or manufacturing facilities are the primary users of this tool.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement or upgrade end mill for standard 0.5 inch collet and end mill holder setups in CNC machining centers and manual milling machines. Part of the GWS Series 2030 product line.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into the collet or end mill holder and tighten to the tool holder manufacturer specifications. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning cuts, as excessive runout will accelerate tool wear and reduce surface finish quality.
