The GWS 314854 is a single-end, centercutting corner radius end mill designed for material removal in non-ferrous metal applications. Built from submicron solid carbide with a ZrN (NF1) coating, it delivers wear resistance and edge retention in aluminum, copper, brass, and similar materials. The 0.06 inch corner radius reduces stress concentration at the cutting edge and produces a blended transition at the base of milled features. With 3 right-hand helical flutes at a 37-degree high helix angle, the tool promotes efficient chip evacuation, reducing heat buildup and surface loading common in non-ferrous cutting. Installed in standard end mill holders with a straight-cylindrical shank held to h6 tolerance, it fits securely in most CNC machining centers and manual mills.
This end mill is suited for roughing passes in non-ferrous metal workpieces, including aluminum alloys, copper, and brass. The coarse pitch and high helix geometry support aggressive material removal rates while maintaining surface quality. It is appropriate for profiling, slotting, and peripheral milling operations in job shop, production, and tool room environments. The centercutting design allows plunge entry directly into the workpiece. The 1/2 inch shank diameter and 3 inch overall length make it a practical fit for vertical machining centers and knee mills running non-ferrous programs.
Designed for use with standard end mill holders. The 1/2 inch straight-cylindrical shank with h6 tolerance is compatible with ER collet chucks, Weldon-style holders, and hydraulic chucks sized for 1/2 inch tooling. Intended for non-ferrous metal workpiece materials.
Installation is performed by machinists in CNC or manual milling setups. Power down and lock out the spindle before inserting or removing the end mill from the holder. Verify shank seating depth and holder torque per the holder manufacturer specification before running. Do not use this tool on ferrous or hardened materials outside its rated primary workpiece material category.
