The GWS 314674 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling in demanding machining environments. Built from submicron-grade carbide and finished with a ZrN (zirconium nitride) coating, this tool delivers extended wear resistance and reduced friction at the cutting edge. It features a 5/16 inch diameter with a 1-1/8 inch length of cut and a 37-degree helix angle, making it well suited for applications requiring sharp, clean peripheral cuts. The single-end, right-hand cutting and flute direction configuration is standard for CNC and manual milling operations. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals are the primary users of this tool.
The 314674 is applicable to ferrous and non-ferrous material removal operations where a compact, rigid cutting tool is required. The ZrN coating improves performance in materials prone to built-up edge. With a 2-1/2 inch overall length and 5/16 inch shank diameter, the tool fits standard collets and end mill holders on vertical machining centers and manual knee mills. Its 3-flute geometry balances chip evacuation with cutting edge strength, making it a practical choice for slotting, profiling, and light plunging operations where centercutting capability is needed.
Designed as a direct-fit cutting tool for standard 5/16 inch collets and end mill holders on CNC machining centers and manual milling machines. Part of the GWS Series 2030 product line.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following the machine tool manufacturer's tooling guidelines. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe, locked-out state before inserting or removing the end mill from the holder. Use a torque wrench appropriate to the collet nut specification for your specific holder to avoid under- or over-tightening. Inspect the shank and cutting edges for chips or damage before each use.
