The GWS 312662 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill engineered for finishing operations in demanding materials including steel, stainless steel, superalloys, titanium, and cast iron. It features a 0.5 inch diameter with a 0.06 inch corner radius, 7 flutes, and an extra-long 3.25 inch length of cut that enables deep-reach profiling and slotting in difficult-to-access workpiece features. The AlCr-based FX3 coating provides thermal stability and wear resistance at elevated cutting temperatures. The close-pitch, high-helix flute geometry promotes efficient chip evacuation and surface finish quality on finishing passes. This tool is installed by machinists and CNC programmers in job shops and production environments working with hard and high-strength alloys.
This end mill is suited for finish milling, profiling, and contouring in steel, stainless steel, superalloys, titanium, and cast iron. The extra-long 6 inch overall length and extended 3.25 inch length of cut make it appropriate for deep-cavity work and tall-wall features where standard-length tools cannot reach. The single-end, right-hand cutting configuration is compatible with conventional CNC machining centers and vertical mills using standard end mill holders. Series 2215 from GWS targets high-performance finishing in ferrous and exotic alloys where tool life and surface finish are the primary priorities.
Designed for use with standard end mill holders. Compatible primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium; compatible secondary workpiece material is cast iron. Shank diameter tolerance is h6 for consistent, repeatable tool holding.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC toolsetter. Secure the 0.5 inch straight-cylindrical shank in a compatible end mill holder torqued to the holder manufacturer specification before starting the spindle. Confirm tool runout with a dial indicator after installation, as runout on a 7-flute finisher directly affects surface finish and tool life. Do not exceed the manufacturer-recommended cutting parameters for the workpiece material; this tool is configured for finishing, not heavy roughing passes.
