The GWS 312620 is a 7-flute solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance finishing operations in ferrous and exotic materials. Built to Series 2215 specifications, it features a 0.5-inch diameter, a 0.03-inch corner radius, and a submicron carbide grade that delivers edge stability under demanding cutting conditions. The FX3 coating provides thermal and oxidation resistance, extending tool life in steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium applications. The right-hand helical flute geometry with a high helix angle and close pitch promotes chip evacuation and reduces cutting forces during finish passes. This tool is sold as a single-end configuration with a straight-cylindrical shank.
The 312620 is suited for finishing operations in CNC machining centers handling steel, stainless steel, superalloys, titanium, and cast iron workpieces. Its short length-of-cut geometry and rigid 0.5-inch shank diameter make it a practical choice for close-tolerance finish milling where deflection control and surface finish quality are priorities. It mounts in standard end mill holders and is appropriate for job shops, aerospace component machining, and general precision metalworking environments where tight corner radii are required.
Compatible with standard end mill holders. Primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium. Secondary workpiece material is cast iron. Shank diameter tolerance is h6 for precise holder fit.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC setup technician using a compatible end mill holder. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool holder is clean and free of debris before mounting. Verify pull-out force and runout after seating the tool in the holder before beginning cuts. Follow the cutting tool manufacturer's recommended speeds and feeds for the target workpiece material and coating type.
