The GWS 312614 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance finishing operations in demanding metalworking applications. Built to Series 2215 standards, it features a 3/8-inch diameter with a 0.06-inch corner radius and 7 helical flutes at a 38-degree high helix angle. The extra-long geometry delivers a 2-1/2-inch length of cut and 6-inch overall length, giving machinists extended reach in deep-pocket and long-reach milling scenarios. The FX3 AlCr-based coating is engineered to extend tool life when cutting ferrous and hard-to-machine materials. This is a single-end, right-hand cut and flute tool with a straight cylindrical shank held to h6 tolerance, intended for installation in standard end mill holders.
This end mill is suited for finish milling operations on steel, stainless steel, superalloys, titanium, and cast iron. Its close-pitch, 7-flute configuration supports smooth surface finishes and efficient chip evacuation at controlled feed rates. The extra-long length of cut makes it appropriate for deep-wall pockets, tall workpiece features, and profiling operations where standard-length tooling cannot reach. It is center-cutting, which allows plunge entry where required. Machinists working in aerospace, die-mold, and general precision machining environments will find this tool well matched to tight-tolerance finishing passes on difficult materials.
Designed for use with standard end mill holders accepting a 3/8-inch straight cylindrical shank. Primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium; secondary material compatibility includes cast iron.
Installation and tool changes must be performed with the machine spindle fully powered down and in a locked or e-stop state. Seat the shank fully in the end mill holder and torque the set screw or collet nut per the holder manufacturer specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning a finishing pass, as tool deflection is amplified at extended reach lengths. Do not exceed the recommended axial and radial depth of cut for the specific workpiece material without confirming with toolpath simulation.
