The GWS 312612 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance finishing operations in demanding materials. It features a 3/8 inch diameter with a 0.03 inch corner radius, seven flutes in a close-pitch helical configuration, and an extra-long 6 inch overall length with a 2-1/2 inch length of cut. The FX3 coating is noted in supplier attribute data as AlCr-based, providing heat and wear resistance during high-speed machining. Right-hand cutting and right-hand flute direction are standard. The submicron carbide grade supports rigidity and edge retention in tough alloy applications. Licensed machinists and tooling specialists are the primary installers and users of this end mill.
This end mill is engineered for finishing cuts in steel, stainless steel, superalloys, titanium, and cast iron. The extra-long reach makes it well-suited for deep-cavity milling, tall-wall profiling, and applications where standard-length tools cannot access the feature geometry. Its center-cutting capability allows for direct plunging. The straight cylindrical shank with h6 tolerance is compatible with standard end mill holders. The close pitch and high helix style support chip evacuation and surface finish quality in ferrous and high-temperature alloy workpieces.
Designed for use with standard end mill holders accepting a 3/8 inch straight-cylindrical shank with h6 diameter tolerance. Suited for machining steel, stainless steel, superalloys, titanium, and cast iron workpieces as stated in the manufacturer attribute data.
Install in a compatible end mill holder and torque the set screw or collet to the tool holder specification before use. Ensure the machine spindle and tool holder are clean and free of debris before seating the shank. Follow your shop safety protocols and machine manufacturer guidelines for spindle speeds and feeds appropriate to the workpiece material. Do not exceed the tool overhang beyond what the application requires, as additional unsupported reach reduces rigidity.
