The GWS 312487 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for high-performance milling in demanding metalworking applications. Built on GWS Series 2213, this single-end tool features a 1.25-inch mill diameter, a 1.5-inch length of cut, and 5 flutes with a 38-degree helix angle for efficient chip evacuation. The AlCrO-MAX coating provides excellent wear resistance and thermal stability, making it well-suited for extended production runs. Submicron carbide grade construction delivers the rigidity needed to maintain dimensional accuracy in aggressive cutting conditions. A licensed machinist or CNC tooling specialist typically selects and installs this end mill.
The GWS 312487 is suited for milling ferrous alloys, cast iron, stainless steel, non-ferrous metals, heat-resistant superalloys, and plastics, corresponding to ISO workpiece material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S. The chipbreaker geometry helps manage chip load when machining at higher feed rates. The 5-inch overall length and right-hand cutting direction make this a standard fit for vertical and horizontal CNC machining centers as well as manual knee mills requiring a 1.25-inch shank tool in the spindle.
Designed for use in CNC machining centers and manual mills accepting a 1.25-inch shank diameter with h6 shank tolerance. Compatible with ISO workpiece material groups H, K, M, N, P, and S including ferrous alloys, cast iron, stainless steel, non-ferrous metals, heat-resistant superalloys, and plastics.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Ensure the spindle and tool holder are fully powered down and locked out before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully in a compatible end mill holder or collet chuck and torque to the tool holder manufacturer specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning production cuts.
