The GWS 311725 is a 5-flute, solid carbide square end mill designed for high-performance material removal in demanding machining applications. Built on the Series 2205 platform and finished with an AlCrO-MAX coating, it handles elevated cutting temperatures and abrasive workpiece materials with reduced tool wear. The 5/8-inch diameter pairs with a matching 5/8-inch shank, giving machinists a rigid, concentric setup suited for finishing and semi-finishing passes. A 38-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action across a range of ferrous and non-ferrous materials.
This end mill is used in CNC machining centers and manual mills for slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling operations. The 1-5/8-inch length of cut and 3-1/2-inch overall length make it a practical choice for standard-depth cavities and contour work in mold, die, aerospace, and general metalworking applications. It is a single-end tool with a right-hand cut and right-hand flute direction, and it is center-cutting, allowing plunge entry.
Designed as a standard-shank square end mill compatible with collet chucks, end mill holders, and shrink-fit toolholders accepting a 5/8-inch straight shank.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following shop-standard toolholding procedures. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe state before changing tooling. Seat the shank to the recommended insertion depth for the holder type in use and torque retention screws or collet nuts per the toolholder manufacturer specifications. Verify runout with a dial indicator before commencing cuts.
