The GWS 311619 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance metal removal in demanding machining environments. It features a 1/2-inch cutting diameter, a 0.03-inch corner radius, and 5 variable-helix flutes that reduce chatter and improve surface finish across a range of cut conditions. The 1-inch length of cut and 3-inch overall length make it well-suited for short-reach finishing and roughing passes. The AlCr-based FX3 coating provides heat and wear resistance, extending tool life when cutting ferrous and high-temp alloy materials. This end mill is intended for use by machinists and CNC operators running production or job-shop operations.
This end mill is built for both roughing and finishing applications in steel, stainless steel, superalloys, titanium, and cast iron. The variable helix geometry reduces harmonic vibration, making it a practical choice for aggressive material removal rates as well as precision finishing passes. The centercutting design allows for plunge entry, expanding its use in slotting, profiling, and pocket milling operations. It is compatible with standard end mill holders and mounts via a 1/2-inch straight-cylindrical shank with h6 tolerance for consistent runout in close-tolerance holders.
Designed for use with standard end mill holders. Primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium. Secondary workpiece material is cast iron. Shank diameter tolerance is h6 for precision fitment in collet and hydraulic holders.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Secure the shank fully within the holder to the minimum insertion depth recommended by the holder manufacturer, and verify runout before cutting. Ensure the spindle and machine are fully stopped and locked out before tool changes. Do not exceed the tool's rated depth of cut or feed rates for the workpiece material being machined.
