The GWS 311522 is a 5-flute solid carbide square end mill designed for high-performance material removal in demanding machining applications. It features a 3/8 inch mill diameter, a 1/2 inch length of cut, and a 2 inch overall length. The AlCrO-MAX coating provides thermal resistance and wear protection, extending tool life in abrasive and high-temperature cutting environments. Built from submicron-grade solid carbide with a 38-degree helix angle, this single-end, right-hand cutting tool delivers efficient chip evacuation and stable cutting action across a wide range of workpiece materials.
This end mill is suited for milling operations on materials spanning multiple workpiece categories, including ferrous metals, cast iron, stainless steel, non-ferrous materials, steel alloys, and superalloys (material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S). It is appropriate for use in CNC machining centers and manual mills in job shop, production, and maintenance and repair environments. The upcut flute geometry and centercutting capability allow for plunging, slotting, and peripheral milling operations. Standard length classification makes it a practical general-purpose tool for machinists across industries.
Designed for use on workpiece materials within GWS Series 2205 application range, covering material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S. The 3/8 inch square shank is compatible with standard ER and other collet systems accepting 3/8 inch tooling.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing tooling. Seat the shank to the recommended gauge depth in the collet or toolholder and torque the collet nut to the toolholder manufacturer's specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning a cut to protect tool life and workpiece accuracy.
