The GWS 310941 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance milling in demanding metal-cutting applications. It features a 5/8 inch diameter with a 0.03 inch corner radius that reduces stress concentrations at the cutting edge and extends tool life in interrupted cuts. The 4-flute, right-hand spiral geometry supports both roughing and finishing operations in a single tool, making it a practical choice for shops running steel, stainless steel, superalloys, titanium, and cast iron. Licensed machinists and CNC operators use this end mill in vertical machining centers and mill-turn equipment where consistent edge geometry matters.
This end mill is built for short-reach applications with a 3/4 inch length of cut and a 1-5/8 inch reach length, keeping deflection low when machining slots, pockets, and contoured surfaces. The extended-reach shank configuration allows access in deeper setups without sacrificing rigidity. It is a single-end, centercutting tool, so it can plunge directly into a workpiece. Primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium. Cast iron is listed as a secondary application material.
Designed for use with standard end mill toolholders accepting a 5/8 inch straight-cylindrical shank. Rated for steel, stainless steel, superalloys, titanium, and cast iron workpiece materials as specified by the manufacturer.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool changer is disabled before loading or unloading the end mill. Seat the shank fully into the toolholder and torque the retention hardware to the toolholder manufacturer's specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning a production cut, as excessive runout accelerates edge wear on carbide tooling.
