The GWS 310866 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance material removal in demanding machining applications. With a 3/8 inch (0.3750 inch) mill diameter and a 0.09 inch corner radius, this tool blends roughing and finishing capability in a single pass. The 4-flute, right-hand spiral geometry with variable index and variable helix reduces chatter and harmonics during cut. It is center-cutting, allowing plunge entry, and is built to submicron carbide material grade for edge integrity under high-heat, high-feed conditions. Machinists and toolroom professionals running CNC mills and machining centers are the primary users.
This end mill is suited for work in steel, stainless steel, superalloys, titanium, and cast iron - materials common in aerospace, medical, energy, and general precision machining environments. The extended reach design, with a 4.125 inch reach length, makes it appropriate for deep-pocket and long-reach operations where standard-length tools cannot access the workpiece. It fits standard end mill toolholders with a straight-cylindrical shank and h6 shank diameter tolerance for secure, repeatable runout control.
Designed for use with standard end mill toolholders. Primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium; secondary material is cast iron. Straight-cylindrical shank with h6 tolerance fits precision collet chucks and shrink-fit holders.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool is secured to the recommended torque specification for the toolholder manufacturer before operation. Inspect the shank seating depth in the holder to achieve maximum grip length and minimize overhang. Confirm correct spindle direction is set to right-hand before initiating the cut program.
