The GWS 310772 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance material removal in demanding machining environments. It features a 1/4 inch diameter cutting head with a 0.03 inch corner radius, four helical flutes, and a 3/8 inch length of cut. The variable helix and variable index geometry reduce harmonic vibration during cutting, supporting both roughing and finishing passes in a single tool. With an FX3 coating and submicron carbide grade, this end mill is built for aggressive feeds and extended tool life in ferrous and exotic materials. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals are the primary users of this tool.
This end mill is suited for use in steel, stainless steel, superalloys, titanium, and cast iron. The centercutting design allows plunge entry, making it versatile for slotting, profiling, and ramping operations. The extended reach geometry with a 3/4 inch reach length adds clearance for deeper pockets and stepped features without requiring a longer overall tool. It is intended for use with standard end mill holders on CNC machining centers and manual knee mills where 1/4 inch straight-cylindrical shank tooling is appropriate.
Designed for use with standard end mill holders accepting a 1/4 inch straight-cylindrical shank with h6 shank diameter tolerance. Primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium; secondary material is cast iron.
Installation is performed by machinists or CNC setup technicians using a compatible end mill holder torqued per the holder manufacturer's specification. Verify runout at the shank before cutting to maintain dimensional accuracy and tool life. Ensure the spindle and work-holding fixtures are fully secured before engaging the cut. Follow shop-standard lockout procedures when changing tooling on any machine tool.
