The GWS 310657 is a solid carbide square end mill engineered for high-performance milling operations in metal fabrication and machining environments. With a 1.25-inch mill diameter and a 2.625-inch length of cut, this single-end tool removes material efficiently across a wide range of ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The 4-flute, right-hand cutting geometry paired with a 38-degree helix angle promotes chip evacuation and surface finish quality. An AlCrO-MAX coating protects the cutting edges at elevated temperatures, extending tool life in demanding applications. This tool is part of GWS Series 2100 and is suited for use in CNC machining centers and manual mills operated by skilled machinists and tool-and-die professionals.
The 310657 is appropriate for production and job-shop milling applications where a standard-length, large-diameter end mill is required. The 1.25-inch shank diameter matches the mill diameter, providing rigid coupling in standard collets or end mill holders. The centercutting design allows for plunge milling in addition to peripheral and slot cutting. This tool is not extended-reach, making it best suited for setups where workpiece clearance is not a limiting factor. Typical applications include face milling, profiling, slotting, and step cuts in steel, stainless, and hardened alloys.
Designed as a standard-fitment square end mill for CNC machining centers and manual milling machines accepting a 1.25-inch shank diameter end mill holder or collet chuck.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following shop safety procedures. Secure the shank fully within the holder to the minimum insertion depth recommended by the toolholder manufacturer, and torque retention screws or collet nuts to the holder specification. Confirm spindle direction matches the right-hand cutting orientation of this tool before engaging the workpiece. Inspect the cutting edges and coating condition before each use and replace the tool if chipping or coating breakdown is observed.
