The GWS 310356 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling in demanding metalworking and machining applications. Built from submicron-grade carbide and coated with AlCrO-MAX, it delivers extended tool life and heat resistance in high-speed cutting environments. The 4-flute, right-hand cutting geometry with a 38-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth surface finishes. At 5/8 inches in diameter with a 3/4-inch length of cut, this single-end mill is suited for slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling operations. It is installed and operated by machinists and CNC tooling professionals working in job shops and production environments.
The 310356 is intended for use in CNC machining centers and manual milling machines where a 5/8-inch shank is required. The AlCrO-MAX coating provides oxidation resistance at elevated temperatures, making it appropriate for cutting ferrous and hardened materials. The upcut flute configuration and right-hand flute direction support consistent chip removal during climb and conventional milling passes. With a 3-inch overall length and standard length classification, this tool fits conventional tool holders and collets sized for 5/8-inch shanks.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement or standard tooling selection for CNC machining centers and manual mills accepting 5/8-inch square shank end mills in the GWS Series 2100 product line.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following the machine tool manufacturer's tooling procedures. Ensure the spindle is fully powered down and locked before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully in the collet or tool holder to the recommended grip depth and torque the retention system per the holder manufacturer's specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning a cut to avoid premature tool wear or workpiece damage.
