The GWS 310301 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance milling in demanding metalworking applications. It features a 0.5 inch diameter with a 0.02 inch corner radius, four flutes, and a 1-1/4 inch length of cut. The tool is built on a straight-cylindrical shank with an h6 tolerance and measures 3 inches overall length. Variable helix and variable index geometry reduce chatter and improve surface finish across a range of cutting conditions. Centercutting capability allows plunge entry. The FX3 coating provides wear resistance suited to ferrous and exotic alloys. This tool is used by machinists, tool-and-die makers, and CNC operators in production and job-shop environments.
The GWS 310301 is intended for roughing and finishing operations on steel, stainless steel, superalloys, titanium, and cast iron. Its variable helix design makes it well suited to difficult-to-machine materials where vibration and tool deflection are common concerns. The single-end configuration fits standard end mill holders and is appropriate for vertical machining centers, horizontal mills, and manual knee mills running right-hand cutting direction. It performs in both full-slot and peripheral milling passes.
Designed for use with standard end mill holders. Primary workpiece materials are steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium. Secondary workpiece material is cast iron. Shank diameter tolerance is h6, compatible with precision collet and hydraulic chuck systems sized for 1/2 inch shanks.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. Power down and lock out the spindle before loading or removing the tool. Seat the shank fully in the holder to the recommended gauge line and torque the retention mechanism per the holder manufacturer specifications. Verify runout with a dial indicator before starting a production cut, as excessive runout accelerates edge wear on carbide tooling.
