The GWS 310290 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance milling in demanding shop environments. Built to a 0.5 inch diameter with a 0.06 inch corner radius, it delivers controlled edge engagement that reduces chipping and extends tool life on hard materials. The 4-flute, right-hand spiral geometry supports both roughing and finishing passes in a single tool, making it a practical choice for machinists and toolroom professionals working across a range of ferrous materials. The 3 inch overall length and 1 inch length of cut suit standard reach applications without sacrificing rigidity.
This end mill is intended for use in steel, stainless steel, superalloys, titanium, and cast iron - material groups where submicron carbide grade and corner radius geometry provide a measurable advantage over standard square-end tooling. It is centercutting, allowing plunge entry, and carries a variable index and variable helix to disrupt harmonic chatter in high-speed milling operations. Typical applications include contour milling, pocket profiling, and finishing passes on CNC vertical and horizontal machining centers in job shops, aerospace, and industrial manufacturing environments.
Designed for use with standard end mill toolholders. Primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium. Secondary workpiece material is cast iron. Suitable for CNC machining centers requiring a straight-cylindrical shank end mill at 0.5 inch shank diameter.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the spindle fully stopped and the machine in a safe, locked-out state. Confirm toolholder bore and collet size match the 0.5 inch shank diameter before mounting. Verify runout after seating the tool, as excessive runout accelerates edge wear and reduces surface finish quality. Follow machine manufacturer torque specifications for drawbar and collet nut tightening.
