The GWS 310100 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance material removal in demanding machining applications. It features a 1/4 inch cutting diameter, a 1/2 inch length of cut, and a 0.02 inch corner radius that reduces stress concentration at the cutting edge and extends tool life. The 4-flute, single-end configuration supports both roughing and finishing operations in a single tool. Variable helix and variable index geometry help break up harmonic vibration during aggressive cuts. The straight cylindrical shank measures 1/4 inch in diameter with an h6 tolerance, making it compatible with standard end mill holders.
This end mill is engineered for cutting steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium as primary workpiece materials, with cast iron listed as a secondary application. The short flute length and 2.5 inch overall length suit it for general-purpose vertical and horizontal milling in CNC machining centers and manual mills where tool rigidity and runout control are critical. Centercutting capability allows plunge entry without a pre-drilled hole. The submicron carbide grade provides the hardness and toughness required for ferrous and exotic alloy cutting at elevated speeds and feeds.
Designed for use with standard end mill holders. Primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium; secondary workpiece material is cast iron.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is locked out before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into the holder and verify runout with a dial indicator before cutting. Follow the tool manufacturer and machine builder recommendations for speeds, feeds, and depth of cut based on workpiece material and machine rigidity.
