The GWS 310085 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance metal removal and finishing in demanding machining environments. Built to Series 2100 standards with a submicron carbide grade, this single-end, center-cutting tool features a 1/4 inch diameter, a 0.03 inch corner radius, and 4 flutes with a variable helix and variable index geometry. The right-hand flute direction and spiral flute type support efficient chip evacuation during both roughing and finishing operations. The straight cylindrical shank carries an h6 diameter tolerance, ensuring consistent runout in standard end mill toolholders.
This end mill is suited for machining steel, stainless steel, superalloys, titanium, and cast iron across short-reach milling applications. The 3/8 inch length of cut and 2 inch overall length make it well matched to slot milling, profile milling, and light contouring passes in job shop and production environments. It is intended for use in CNC machining centers and manual mills where tight tolerances and clean corner geometry are required. A licensed machinist or CNC operator typically runs this tool in end mill toolholders compatible with a 1/4 inch straight shank.
Designed for use with standard end mill toolholders accepting a 1/4 inch straight cylindrical shank. Primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium; secondary workpiece material is cast iron.
This tool is installed and operated by machinists and CNC programmers following standard toolholding and speeds-and-feeds practices for carbide end mills. Verify that the toolholder bore and collet are clean and free of chips before seating the shank to the correct engagement depth. Power down the spindle and confirm zero RPM before changing or measuring the tool. Coolant-through is not supported on this tool, so external coolant or mist application should be directed at the cutting zone during use in materials that generate heat.
