The GWS 310044 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for precision milling in demanding metal-cutting applications. It features a 3/16 inch diameter with a 0.02 inch corner radius that reduces stress concentrations at the cutting edge, extending tool life in high-load operations. With 4 flutes and a variable helix geometry, it delivers smooth chip evacuation and reduced chatter across a range of cutting conditions. The 5/16 inch length of cut and 2 inch overall length make it well suited for short, rigid setups requiring both roughing and finishing capability in a single tool pass. Licensed machinists and CNC tooling technicians are the primary installers of this end mill.
This end mill is built for cutting steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium as primary workpiece materials, with secondary suitability for cast iron. The right-hand flute direction and right-hand cutting orientation are standard for conventional CNC machining center use. The straight cylindrical shank with h6 tolerance fits directly into standard end mill toolholders. Its short length type makes it appropriate for high-rigidity, close-tolerance work where deflection must be minimized, particularly in aerospace, die-and-mold, and precision manufacturing environments.
Designed for use with standard end mill toolholders. Primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium; secondary workpiece material is cast iron.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Always power down and lock out the spindle before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully and evenly in the toolholder collet and torque the retention nut per the toolholder manufacturer specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before initiating a cutting program to prevent premature tool wear or workpiece damage.
